What can you tell me about the current state of prepping and survivalism in the UK?

Compared to what's happening in America, I gather the movement's tiny, almost non-existent. It's difficult to know why. A glance through the comments on online financial pages of the UK broadsheets reveals a depth of knowledge of financial matters that's sadly not displayed by the press articles themselves. Obviously then a few people do know what's going on. They seem to be doing very little other than complaining online, to no obvious response yet from the mainstream press or media in general.
